How to Set Up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) on Slack

Your Slack account holds sensitive team data and files. To protect it, enabling two-factor authentication (2FA) is a vital step.



Follow these steps to secure your Slack Workspace:

1. Log in to your Slack Workspace

Open Slack in your browser and log into your Workspace account.

2. Access Your Profile Settings

Click on your profile photo in the bottom-left corner, then select “Profile.”


3. Navigate to Account Settings

In the right-hand pane, click on the three dots next to “View as” and select “Account Settings.”


4. Find the Two-Factor Authentication Option

Under the Account tab, locate “Two-Factor Authentication” and click on the Expand button.


5. Set Up 2FA

Click the Set up Two-Factor Authentication button.


6. Choose the Authenticator App Option

Select Use an App as your verification method. A QR code will appear on your screen.


7. Scan the QR Code

Open your Authenticator app on your phone, tap the + button, and scan the QR code displayed on your Slack screen.



8. Enter the Generated Code

Your Authenticator app will generate a 6-digit code for Slack. Enter this code on the Slack screen to complete the setup.



Pro Tip: Save your backup codes securely during setup. They are essential if you lose access to your Authenticator app.
